This piece was originally from a photograph by Jim-B. I painted what I saw on the internet, and instead of the leaves being the main focus, I made the flowers more of a perspective by making them brighter than they really were. This was done with acrylics on black construction paper and I used the standard "Paint on paint" technique. The simplicity of the photograph deserved a more common approach, so both verticle and horizontal swipes of the brush were used. Lastly, I outlined the main flowers of focus with a sharp pin around the edges to make it "pop" out at you. I used black dry brush on the leaves to make them receed into the backround.
You can't see it but there is and forever will be a smile on my face everytime I look at this painting. It is my favorite of my favorites My goodness! It's even better than the original! And you did this in one day! I...I don't know what to say! You're like the best artist ever! I couldn't paint that if I had a year to do it in. I can't believe I motivated YOU! Trust me, it's the other way around. I'll never consider myself an artist because I didn't take the time learn how to become one but you did and that why you're so great. One day, I hope I can take photos as good as you can draw! Keep up the fantastic job!
Thank you so much Jim-B! You are so sweet! There is a smile on my face right now as I read your comments to my art! I think that you are a great photographer and you should forever be that way! And even if you do (which I doubt) lose intrest in photography...just like the plague, art comes back to you, you can never really lose what you have gained.
Don't worry. I don't plan on quitting photography anytime soon. I still got to get better at it first brfore I go and retire. Anyway (Man I say "anyway" alot), I gald to hear I could put a smile somebosy's face.
